September 21st is the International Day of Prayer for Peace, which people of faith around the world will be observing. Here in Canada, Christians are invited to join a Prayer Walk for Peace in support of the ministry of The Canadian Council of Churches.
In a world longing for healing, justice, and reconciliation, we invite you to “pray with your feet.” Walk in your neighbourhood, your church community, or your city’s streets. Walk by yourself or with others from your church or ecumenical community. If walking is not an option for you, consider gathering with others to pray and reflect together about your hopes for peace.
You might want to gather for prayer after your Sunday morning worship and then walk together in your church’s neighbourhood. Consider connecting with other Christian churches in your neighbourhood. Meet in a local park on Sunday afternoon, share prayers for peace, and then disperse for a quiet prayer walk in the beauty of God’s Creation. If you don’t walk, join us from a comfortable sitting room with the window open, connected with friends, colleagues and nature. Prayer is essential. All gifts are welcome.
