The Canadian Council of Churches acknowledges the March 31st deadline for response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call to Action #48—namely, that

“. . . church parties to the Settlement Agreement, and all other faith groups and interfaith social justice groups in Canada who have not already done so . . . formally adopt and comply with the principles, norms, and standards of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a framework for reconciliation.”

On this momentous occasion—which is extremely significant in the on-going process of reconciliation in Canada—the CCC:

Re-issues the consensus statement (attached; en français) made by our 25 member denominations, representing more than 85% of the Christians in Canada, to the final national meeting of the TRC in Edmonton in 2014.
Renews its commitment to moving forward in the directions articulated by the statement.
Invites its member denominations to sign on to TRC Call to Action #48.
Names reconciliation as a major priority for the next years of the life of the CCC.
