Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2024 (Jan 18-25)

“May we recognize their desire for eternal life” : 6 Ways to Celebrate the 2024 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU)

Today is the first day of the 2024 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18-25, 2024)!

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an annual ecumenical celebration. Christians around the world are invited to pray for the unity of all Christians, to reflect on scripture together, to participate in jointly-organized ecumenical services, and to share fellowship.

It’s not too late to get involved in this special event!

6 Ways to Participate in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU)

  1. CHECK OUT the listings page on the Week of Prayer website to see if there’ s a WPCU service near you.
  2. SUBSCRIBE to the Week of Prayer newsletter for updates and stories of Christian unity.
  3. LEARN about the theme of the 2024 WPCU, “You shall love the Lord your God.. and your neighbour as yourself” (Luke 10:27), which calls Christians to act like Christ in loving like the Good Samaritan.
  4. FIND WAYS to show mercy and compassion to those in need, regardless of their religious, ethnic, or social identity.
  5. DISCOVER Canadian WPCU resources developed by the ecumenical WPCU Writing and Animation Team.
  6. FOLLOW the Council’s social media pages (FBTW/XIG) to join others in daily prayers for Christian unity with posts like this:

As we join the ecumenical team in Burkina Faso and the local Chemin Neuf Community (CCN) in celebrating the 2024 WPCU, may we learn to love one another regardless of our differences and become neighbours like the Samaritan in the Gospel.
