Position Vacancy: Research and Program Assistant, Forum for Intercultural Leadership and Learning

We are seeking a Research and Program Assistant to play a vital role in supporting the Associate Secretary, Intercultural Leadership. You will support the successful execution of the Engage Difference! Deepening Understanding for Intercultural Ministry (DUIM) programs, while playing a pivotal role in the planning, logistics, and delivery of the North America Regional Ecumenical Theological Institute (NA-RETI) 2026. Your work will include event planning, program delivery, research, network building, visual design, and administrative support for both initiatives.

The Forum for Intercultural Leadership and Learning (FILL) of The Canadian Council of Churches is an ecumenical Christian partnership through which Canadian Churches work toward intercultural leadership development and ministry learning in Canada and globally. Through FILL, Canadian Churches:

  • Come together for biblical and theological reflection on issues of contemporary intercultural mission and ministry;
  • Provide innovative educational resources and programs for intercultural learning, leadership development and ministry in Canada and globally;
  • Participate in learning and dialogue with church members and wider communities of faith about a society that fully honours diversity and God’s unequivocal welcome and
  • Network and support persons directly engaged in ministry across cultural and other differences.

NA-RETI 2026 is a fully immersive residential learning program designed as a pilgrimage across borders. By engaging the unique social and religious landscapes of Detroit and Toronto, participants will explore the deep intersections of faith and public life. The program is designed to nurture the visible unity of the church, fostering connections across national and denominational lines to reimagine the church’s witness in a polarized world.

This part-time flexible contract position will be 21 hours per week at an annualized pay rate of $35,553 (60% of an annual full-time equivalent amount of $59,255). The preferred start date is January 20, 2026, negotiable.
